Fall Kayak on Tampier Lake
Tampier Lake is part of the Cook County Forest Preserve system located in the Southwest suburbs. The lake encompasses 131 acres and is known for fishing and boating, with open grasslands all around. In addition to onsite boat rentals there is a bait and tackle shop that sells some snacks. A public bathroom and plenty of free parking are on the premises.
Let’s plan to meet at the boat rental shop at 10:00, where we’ll be outfitted with a boat, paddle and life jacket. Hourly boat rental rates are: single kayak - $25; tandem kayak - $35; canoe or rowboat - $30. After first hour rental is $5 for each 15 minutes. Bring your own kayak and use public boat ramp at no charge! During our paddle we may encounter great blue herons, cormorants and many other birds, as well as an abundance of water lilies in several spots.
After our paddle we will head to a local restaurant for lunch and libations.
Here’s your chance to kayak in a beautiful area and enjoy friends, meet new ones!
