This is your opportunity to give back to Chicago – join us on Cleanup the Chicago River Day with the Friends of the Chicago River. We will look for trash along the banks of the river, with bags and gloves provided by Friends, for about 2 hours, then relocate at a nearby restaurant for lunch.  It’s a great program and a wonderful opportunity to help get and keep our Chicago River clean.  Register with LSSC then sign up with the Friends of the Chicago River for our destination.
Photos are our group from May of 2024.

What to expect: Volunteers should expect to work and get a bit dirty or wet. This is an outdoor activity IN CANOES along the banks of the Chicago River. Your morning will start out with a welcome from your site captain AND signing of waivers (required). This will be followed by an overview of the day’s activities, safety talk, and distribution of supplies to volunteers. Volunteers will work along the riverbanks and help to remove litter. This is a great way to see the river!

What to bring: Wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing. This activity will go on rain or shine. Bring water, sunscreen, and your favorite work gloves.

Registration (RSVP) is Required so we know who will be attending.

You will complete an event day waiver at the site.
