2021 Kayak into Autumn with LSSC
Kayak into Autumn with LSSC - Wednesday, September 15, 2021
[Photos are coming]
The sunset paddle on the Chicago River went smoothly for eleven LSSC members on Sept. 15, under the careful eye of Urban Kayaks' tour guide, Ryan.
After the sign-in we each pushed off in single kayaks on what evolved into an hour-long mini-architecture tour of the Chicago River. We departed under the imposing shadow of Jeanne Gang"s St. Regis Chicago, then paddled westward past Tribune Tower, the Wrigley building and Adrian Smith's Trump Tower. The skeleton in the corner window of the Britannica Building was noticed by two sets of eyes.
We turned at the red leafy sculpture, "Constellation" by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava at River Point Plaza, and returned eastward past the dozens of portraits called "Neighborhood" at Lake Street. We clinked water bottles, and promised to paddle again..before the ice floes arrive.
