The LSSC Annual Picnic - Saturday, August 13, 2022

The Annual LSSC Picnic on Saturday August 13, 2022, at the Bunker Hill Forest Preserve was a success. Although there was a threat of rain, there was only a little sprinkle right at the start of the event. The rest of the day was cool and breezy with some clouds and even a little sun. We had 43 happy people join us for a day of fun, food, and lots of catching up with friends.

The day started out with a few dedicated volunteers getting to the picnic grove early to get the site organized and set up. Thank you to Ed Hanlon, Dave Pierce, and Alfred Mueller. Several more volunteers arrived later and helped with getting all of the food unpacked and set out for everyone. We also had a wonderful group of volunteers to staff the registration desk and get everyone checked in and wrist banded.

As everyone gathered, we shared some appetizers and snacks. Once most people had arrived, we all enjoyed a delicious buffet of BBQ Chicken, Hamburgers, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Garden salad. After lunch we had cookies and fruit. Alfred Mueller, then, rounded up the participants for some fun games. We started out with 2 rounds of Marshmallow Golf, followed by the traditional egg toss and finally the water balloon toss. All of the participants had a wonderful time and provided the rest of the picnic attendees with an opportunity to cheer them on.

After some more snacking, visiting with friends, a wonderful group of volunteers helped with clean up.
