2022 Cedarburg, WI Bike Trip - Friday September 9 - Sunday September 11

Eight LSSC members made the short journey to Cedarburg, WI, just north of Milwaukee, for the club's annual weekend bike excursion in the land-o-cheese.

Friday evening started with a meet-up at Rebellion Brewing Co. on the bank of Cedar Creek and at the base of a late 19th century mill. It was a great setting to kick-off the weekend and talk about the itinerary with the group. We followed that conversation with a lovely joint dinner at a local farm to table restaurant, Brandywine.

Saturday, our main riding day due to rain on Sunday, found us on a 30-mile round-trip ride on the Ozaukee Interurban Trail--a rail-to-trail conversion of a route from Milwaukee to Sheboygan. We encountered beautiful woods and farmland along the way. For lunch we stopped in Port Washington which featured food at a lovely local bakery, Daily Baking Co. Of course, who couldn't pass up a walkthrough of the local butcher, Bernie's Fine Meats, and a local WI artisanal craft store. The day ended at a taproom in Grafton and an al fresco dinner in Cedarburg at Stilt House. Prior to getting our table, we had a great conversation with locals about their annual "Conquer the Burg", a scavenger bike ride. Hmm, perhaps a return visit is in order . . .

Sunday, we visited a local covered bridge built in 1876 and then members split off to visit museums and shops in the area.

Here are a few quotes about the weekend from members:
Anita: "I felt welcomed, and I appreciated how the weekend was organized and the shared knowledge about the area. This has been the best event ever!
Vicki: "Thanks for everything! Another successful trip in the books."
Linda: "Always appreciate your help and caring attitude.'
Margie: "It's impossible to imagine one of these trips without your guidance. Thank you for your efforts and energy!"

Thanks to all who participated. Spread the word about your experience to other members and friends.

See you on the trail in the future.
