Bike WI 2021—Eisenbahn & Bugline Trails
Friday evening we’ll share orientation packets with riders upon arrival. There will be not be a wine and cheese gathering. Friday dinner will be arranged by participants. (We’ll share a list of local restaurants highlighting outdoor dining or carry-out options.) Bring festival or folding chairs for small group socializing outside. Bring your own beverages & snacks. It’s imperative that you bring masks to wear in public spaces and on our rides--out of respect for all attendees during the weekend.
Saturday we’ll ride the 25-mile one-way or 50-mile round-trip, county-operated, Eisenbahn Trail extending from historical West Bend (home of West Bend appliances) into the scenic countryside of eastern Wisconsin--past the glacial landscape of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Built on a former railroad corridor, hence the heritage shown in the title "Eisenbahn," German for railroad. The trail passes through the communities of West Bend, Kewaskum and Campbellsport, ending in Eden at the village park. Riders can choose the overall distance on Saturday that’s right for them

Spoiler alert: A Homemade Ice Cream stand is our goal that day!
West Bend is home to the Museum of Wisconsin Art, a great coffee shop funding local non-profits, a great bike shop, brew pubs, cafes and restaurants. You can also rent kayaks on your own in West Bend for an added activity on Sat. afternoon or on Sunday. [Reserve in advance with Zodiac Kayak Adventures, (262-353-3780), downtown West Bend right on the river.]
We will not be doing a shared group dinner on Saturday. Please make your own Saturday dinner arrangements.
Sunday morning we’ll experience the Bugline Trail with gem-green fields harboring cattails and butterflies & canopied glens-- giving way to cavernous quarries. We’ll start in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, just 20 miles northwest of Milwaukee. The trail is fully paved end-to-end. Possible Sunday carry out food after the ride at a local pub right beside our parking / starting point. The Bugline Trail is 15.6 mi. one-way; 31.2 mi. round-trip
NOTE: Participants will be responsible for their evening meals on Friday and Saturday.
West Bend, WI is approximately 2-2.5 hours drive from Chicago (127 miles).
