Herrick Lake - Danada Preserve Hiking - Saturday, April 30, 2022 - 10 am to 2 pm
Join us for a spring walk on the Green Heron Trail through the largely restored prairie, wetland, and savanna areas of the Herrick Lake – Danada Forest Preserve.
We’ll set out on our morning hike at 10:00 AM, so plan to arrive and gather by 9:45 AM in the parking lot. After our four-mile loop hike on the Herrick Lake-Danada Regional Trail and the Green Heron trail, we’ll arrive back at the picnic area at Herrick Lake to enjoy a sack lunch. For those who wish to hike in the afternoon, there are several options, one of which is to hike the 1.5 mile Meadowlark Trail, leaving again directly from the parking lot-picnic area.
The walk is largely over flat trails, with a few slight, gentle elevation gains/losses.
Public restrooms are available at the Herrick Lake parking lot.
Where to Meet: We’ll meet on the south side of Butterfield Road, approximately 1 mile west of Naperville Road. A sign on Butterfield Road indicates the “Herrick Lake” turn in. As you enter the parking area, turn left and look for the LSSC group.
