Bike the Major Taylor Trail & Tour Beverly
The Major Taylor Trail is an urban bike experience -- 8 miles one-way; 16 miles round-trip. This trail gives LSSC members the opportunity to learn more about Beverly & points south. The meeting point will be the Dan Ryan Woods, with plenty of parking, and toilets. The southern turn-around point will be Whistler Woods or Blue Island. On the way back to the parking area, we’ll tour a few of the lovely mansions in Beverly. FYI—part of the paved trail includes sections on residential streets in east Beverly.
The trail is named after Marshall "Major" Taylor, a professional world champion cyclist from the late 1800's to early 1900's. He was the 2nd African American to win a world championship in any sport.
